Letter2Thoughts Part 2

Jesus, True God? Prove it! Part 2
Holy Scriptures:
And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, “Peace, be still.”  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, “Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?” (Mark 4:36-41)
f=ma:
What is wind? What comprises wind? Can you freely grasp and hold on to it, thus preventing it from passing you by?  No. But we take delight in its cool touch on a hot summer day.  Can you see the wind? No. We only see its affects; sheets traditionally hung on lines to be blown dry by the wind.
Sailors took the fore-mentioned domestic chore further and tied both sheets and lines to a mast; thus harnessing the power of the wind to propel their ships forward. But as the fishermen and others of Jesus' disciples learned, there is no harnessing or controlling a “great storm of wind”; hurricanes the size of small countries, churning the seas with towering hundred foot waves.A
Again I ask, what is the invisible and intangible stuff of wind that we should fear its “gathering”?

What makes “a gathering of winds” potentially dangerous is the increasing speed, or acceleration, of particles, molecules (that which cannot be seen by the naked eye); resulting in the generation of destructive kinetic force.  It's been stated by scientists that the destructive forces of tornadoes affects objects at the molecular level. There are records of needles of hay stuck on end in telephone poles, resulting in a porcupine affect.
Holy Scriptures:
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” (Mark4:38)
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, “Peace, be still.” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, “Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?” (Mark 4:39)
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (Mark 4:38-40)
M=F/A:
Notice what is written in Mark 4:38, “... and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?” Clearly the disciples expected something from Jesus, but they didn't know what.
Cultural and Periodic Context: The myths of that period and lack of scientific understanding led to pagan influences. Acts of nature were attributed to the moods and conflicts of deities, particularly those of Roman and Greek mythology which spoke of demi-gods or the progeny of gods and humans. The disciples, after witnessing the many miracles of Christ, were most likely influenced by the prevailing myths of their time and may have been open to the possibility that Jesus was a demi-god; the son of “a” god. They didn't yet fully believe in Jesus as “The Son of the one true God”. Thus the statement, “What manner of man is this….”
Christ “rebuked the wind” and said, “Peace, be still”. He stilled the sea (M), decelerated the speed (A) of the wind and air, and eliminated the destructive buildup of kinetic energy (F).
Knowledge and understanding of the laws of nature does not equate to commanding and controlling nature itself. Once again, as in the feeding of the five thousand (see Matthew 14: 17-21), Jesus, recognized as true man, reveals his divine nature, power, and authority as the Christ (see Matthew 16:16).
Summary:
Today, a popular show on television is “Storm Trackers”, where meteorologists attempt to track tornadoes from the first moments of formation to their destructive end. Sophisticated equipment is used to monitor the development of tornado “cells” in order to better understand how tornadoes develop and to use that information to establish early warning systems.
Christ, however, did not and does not need sophisticated equipment and technology. By the power of His word alone, He was and is able to still the raging storms.
